The PTP-LPU (Lightning Protection Unit) is a high-performance, solid-state device engineered for durability and reliability in extreme weather conditions. Housed in a rugged metal enclosure, it’s built to withstand harsh elements such as ice, snow, and heavy rain, and has been tested to endure wind speeds up to 150 mph (242 kph). Designed for long-term outdoor use, the PTP-LPU has an expected operational life of 10 years, even under continuous environmental exposure.
Thanks to its compact design and minimal components, the PTP-LPU is both lightweight and easy to install, making it ideal for rapid deployment in the field. It also offers a cost-effective solution for protecting valuable network infrastructure.
To ensure optimal lightning protection for PTP 650 radio systems, it is recommended to install two PTP-LPUs per radio:

One near the radio unit (on a wall, tower, or mast)

One at the building’s cable entry point

The kit contains two lightning protection units (LPUs) and LPU ground cables. One kit is used for the DC power port of the PMP 450m Outdoor unit (ODU).
